Drummer in Chicago, Song Writer in DC, No Problem. New Album Underway
Better days are coming soon. The new album is underway and starting to take on form in MHB studio lab’s most recent home studio digs. The vibe is slowly forming into a place of songwriting heaven. It took a while to learn the room, but I feel my ears warming up to all the sounds it is capable of mastering. So currently there are about 6 tracks in the works, some close to done and some about half way in the pot.
Plenty of musicians from around the country are joining in on the recordings. Slide guitarist Aaron Bakker from the Dorian Taj Band will be laying down some of his Keith Richards influenced chunky rhythms as well as his soulful slide skills of course. Michael Whalen, MHB’s oldest and closest drummer, will be tracking some drums in MHB’s home town of Chicago. It’s even rumoored that made congas player Mr. Sean Kelly will grace a track or two. Or three?
The Songwriting is a mixture of past and present infulences of MHB. Some newer writing influences have come from Ray Lamontagne and various other folkly influences, which go back to the past influences of Dylan. Stay tuned for more information.
